Why We Chose Nocatee: Our Family's Story

When people ask how long we've lived in Nocatee, the answer usually surprises them.

Our connection to this community began long before we ever became real estate advisors.

In fact, it began with a vision.

Before Nocatee Was Nocatee

Long before neighborhoods, schools, and parks filled the landscape, I (Kristin) worked at JEA on the capital projects side, helping develop the infrastructure that would eventually support what became Nocatee.

I remember sitting in meetings where developers shared their vision for transforming thousands of acres into a thoughtfully planned community unlike anything Northeast Florida had seen before. It would combine neighborhoods, schools, parks, trails, and preserved natural spaces into one connected lifestyle.

I left those meetings thinking, One day, I want to live there.

At the time, Quinton and I were raising our daughters in Duval County. Like many families, we spent hours every day commuting across Jacksonville for private school. Our girls often finished their homework in the backseat while we navigated traffic.

Those drives gave us wonderful family memories—but they also helped us realize something important.

We wanted to spend less time commuting and more time living.

Choosing a Lifestyle Instead of a Commute

When we started exploring Nocatee, we weren't simply shopping for a house.

We were choosing a different lifestyle.

Instead of investing years of private school tuition, we decided to invest in a community where our daughters could walk or ride their bikes to school, spend afternoons with neighborhood friends, and grow up surrounded by parks, trails, and families who genuinely knew one another.

Like many journeys, ours wasn't perfectly straightforward.

We built a home in Kelly Pointe but ultimately decided not to move forward with the purchase. Looking back, we're grateful things unfolded the way they did.

While Quinton was deployed to Bahrain, the girls and I spent a year living at Tidewater Condominiums. During that season of life, we found an incredible sense of community and safety.

Then, in 2012, we purchased what had long been our dream home in Austin Park.

We had admired that home for years, often driving past and saying, "One day..."

It also became my very first real estate transaction after earning my real estate license.

At the time, the Splash Water Park and Publix had opened, but much of today's Nocatee was still little more than roads leading to future neighborhoods. Many of the communities people know today existed only on maps and site plans.

Watching Nocatee grow from those early days into one of the country's premier master-planned communities has been an incredible experience.

Becoming Part of the Community

We didn't just buy a home here.

We became part of the community.

Quinton served as Vice President of the Austin Park HOA for two years.

I served as Chair of the Architectural Review Board, helping homeowners improve their properties while preserving the character of our neighborhood.

We volunteered with our daughters' school's PTO during its earliest years, and I even coached middle school cheerleading.

Our daughters grew up riding bikes to school, walking to friends' homes, and enjoying the kind of neighborhood childhood that's becoming increasingly rare.

Those experiences gave us something no certification or designation ever could.

They gave us perspective.

From Residents to Trusted Advisors

As the years passed, we noticed something unique.

People rarely leave Nocatee.

Families purchase their first home, then move into larger homes as life changes. Parents relocate to be closer to their children. Friends invite friends. Neighbors become lifelong relationships.

Nocatee isn't simply a place people move to.

It's a place people choose to stay.

That realization shaped the way we approach real estate.

Today, we don't simply help clients buy and sell homes.

We help families understand the personality of each neighborhood, compare builders and resale opportunities, navigate CDD and HOA structures, and find the lifestyle that fits them best.

Because we've experienced nearly every stage of life in this community ourselves, we understand that choosing a neighborhood is about much more than square footage.

It's about finding home.
